  2. Signal Loss

My laptop is experiencing random Signal Loss with all external PC UHD Monitors. However, using my UHD TV as an external monitor works great. How/Why is the occurring and are there any resolutions?

    Laptop: HP ENVY Laptop 17-ch1xxx

Processor: 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1195G7

    Graphics: Intel Iris Xe Graphics

I upgraded all drivers found in Device Manager but also found additional driver updates via Intel Driver & Support Assistant.... The Signal Loss issues were not resolved.

As for the PC Monitors I tried Dell, HP, MSI, & currently using a Samsung. The manufacturers were not able to identify what could be causing the Signal Loss.

  3. Signal Loss

    Hello Trent,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

According to your description, you have an HP laptop that randomly experiences signal loss when connected to an external monitor, right? In other words, the monitor can be recognized, but the signal is erratic, right?

There are many reasons for this problem, driver failure/cable failure/video card failure/hardware incompatibility, etc. Therefore, this problem needs further investigation.

I have confirmed that you have tried some operations, such as upgrading the driver and testing multiple brands of monitors. If all have the same problem, I think the problem is in your HP Laptop.

It is understood that your laptop should have more than one video output port, if possible, please use the corresponding cable, connect the corresponding interface to try.

If you have done this and the problem persists, I think it is a hardware level failure. The connection port clearly shows poor contact, resulting in random signal loss. Please bring your device to HP's After-Sales Support department for a hardware inspection.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Signal Loss

Only when using an external Monitor developed for a PC Monitor. The Signal Loss does not occur when using a UHD TV as the external monitor. The Laptop only has one HDMI port but I suppose I could obtain a USB-C to DisplayPort Cord/Adapter but I doubt that would change anything seeing as how the HDMI port works just fine when connecting to a TV as the external monitor. HP was silly and tried to get me to buy some sort of $200+ device, I can't remember what they said it was but is totally unnecessary and just a sales tactic.
