Windows 10: My monitor's highest refreshrate can't be selected - shows an asteriks

Ever since i reinstalled windows and all necessary firmware for my 240hz alienware monitor, on startup it's automatically set to 120hz. When i choose 240hz, the resolution drops. Changing the resolution back to it's original state sets the refresh rate back to 120hz. A fix is to unplug the monitor's power and replug it, which removes the asteriks next to the 240hz and i can select it without the resolution changing. Obviously not ideal. Any tips?

Use Windows in Clamshell (closed lid) Problem with Refreshrate

i Would like to use my Surface Laptop in a Closed Lid mode, but the monitor i have is a 144Hz Refreshrate monitor (2K 144Hz)

As it looks like my Laptop can do Video output up to 120Hz and it works perectly when i do Mirror or Extend screen. (But i Want Clamshell)

And There comes the problem, for the 1st time at switching modes (Mirror Screen, Extend Screen), the refreshrate is automaticly set to 144Hz and i have to manualy change it to 120Hz or lower, and i can only do this at my LAPTOP SCREEN -cause the Monitor is Blank (Does not even get signal) . When i change the refreshrate to 120Hz or less, the monitor would work Perfectly

Soo, for the Clamshell mode the Laptop needs to be closed Right, and at the time i Close the lid, the Refreshrate Output goes automaticly to 144hz - Blank screen

Even in the mode - "Show only on 2" -in Display Settings, the refreshrate is on 144Hz, and i cannot change it.

--->Is it somehow possible to limit or Change the Refreshrate Output up to Max 120Hz?

And yes, i disabled all the Power Saving options to - Do Nothing

4870x2 won't display at 1680x1050 at all!

OK. Now I know what ur problem is. Step by step:
1. Go to Catalyst Control Center
2. Click on the word "Graphic" right on top left corner. It will display drop down menu
3. Click on Display monitor and will see the list of monitor at near bottom
4. Right Click the monitor and select "Configure". It will show up the window
5. There will be 3 option to select. Select the middle one and then click on the tab which show the bar with 15%.
6. Drag the bar to max, and the screen will stretch to the native resolution 1680x1050.
7. Also click the tab with showing RGB drop down list and select the last one (it will change to image quality for pc).

Changing Aspect Ratio limits refreshrate

When I change my aspect ratio to anything but 4:3 both windows and nvidia control panel limit my refreshrate from 75 to 60Hz. The monitor is iiyama PL2530H over HDMI.
