Windows 10: My mouse is not working properly

I purchased a Microsoft 5050 keyboard with wireless mouse. The keyboard is fine but the mouth gives me issues. It is very lazy in moving the cursor when I move it and often when dormant for a period of time, it wont move at all and needs to be 'coaxed'. I often need to remove the batteries and reinsert them before I am able to use the mouse. Is this normal? How can I fix it?

The different mouse that I tested on this works perfectly, but unfortunately, the mouse I used originally that I tested on the other computer, didn't work properly, just the buttons.

So, I bet that I'll either use the new mouse, which gets uncomfortable, because it's meant to be hidden in the computer via USB... Or, I buy a different mouse. Or, find the solution to the original problem..

Here are the first steps you need to take:

• Test the mouse on a different PC.
• Test a different mouse on your PC.

 

mouse is not working right


unfortunately there isn't a lot to a usb mouse. what i would suggest is checking the power management settings on it.

Right-click the start menu and choose device manager
Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the very bottom
Double-click on each HUB you have listed, click Power Management Tab at the top, and UNCHECK "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"
You may have HUBs called Generic and Root Hub. Perform the step above on All of them.

If you continue to have the issue, i would imagine your mouse is malfunctioning. Perhaps try another mouse just to be sure. This will help you determine if it is in fact the mouse of computer causing the issue.
