Windows 10: My MS Account needs attention, again

Only upgraded today from 10162 to 10166 and had the same problem, I have only had the one M$ Account.
pressed the fix me button and message appeared "your account needs verification"
Opened Accounts in Settings, click on Manage my Account, noted that M$ recognised me, then back to Accounts.
Back to Update and Security clicked on " choose how updates are delivered" this enabled me to choose either the fast or slow option to upgrade.
Restarted the computer just to make sure the option was still there.

 

"Your account needs verification" means that you haven't validated your identity on that build yet. You must validate your identity on every computer you use it on, otherwise it's not considered a valid MSA account for insider purposes.

 

Sometime that problem popups when your insider build is messed up.

Optional Restart windows update using task manager.

Start Settings update & security, windows update, advance options, click on fix insider build. A reboot may or may not be needed. This should fixes the validation if you already have done the validation. I am basing this on my experience with windows 10 build 10166.

 

As my account was used to upgrade and import all my old settings, and also to sign in, it is incorrect to suggest validation was necessary.. I did absolutely nothing other than that stated in my previous post. I was already validated in "manage my accounts."
Lets just assume it was a Beta problem.

 

This is The Only device I use Win 10-10166 on and there was some sort of update to and I have had the problem ever since.

 

I just shut off my PC and then turned it back on and now all is OK.

 

I just ignore it and get on with my work.

 

I have had the same problem with the "Fix" showing in the update Windows window. I run a triple boot system with 3 SSD's each with a different OS: Win 7 HP 64 bit, Win 8.1 pro, and Win 10 build 10166.
My Fix: UNPLUG ALL DRIVES EXCEPT FOR WIN 10 AND REBOOT WITH THE WIN 10 DRIVE AS THE DEFAULT.

Shut off your PC and let it sit for about 1 minute and then turn it back on. This worked for me but YMMV.

 

I managed to crash it at the Fix Me stage (with an MSA that is an Insider and verified).





It's possible that it's related to MS suspending some of the Insider functions like activation, I guess.

I would get the 10166 iso build before they disable the download. You can upgrade using the iso as well. If I understand that info 10162 will no longer activate, they didn't say anything about 10166 not being able to activate.

 

Thanks Gary & jm44jg39, I'll wait for the final release as it doesn't bother me.

 

Time to make a good full backup. Finally got everything working to almost perfection but not really clear if even registered insiders can register any more if 10166 is clean installed so a full disk backup is a must.
