Windows 10: my msi touchpad has stopped working

like the title says, it just suddenly stopped working mid use.ive been into my device manager and it looks as if there is a problem with my i2c hid. error 10ive gone through a few fixes i found online and nothing works.funnily enough all mentions of the touchpad in my control panel have also disappeared.any help would be appreciated.

MSI Touchpad stopped working

Can anyone please help?

I've had my MSI laptop for nearly a year now. Today the touchpad just stopped working.

I thought this strange as I haven't had a windows update and looking online that seems to be a big problem with this driver.

The driver is Synaptic SMBus Touchpad.

So I tried to update the driver from Device Manager, rebooted, same problem. I then uninstalled the diver then found it on softpedia.com and re-installed it. This worked for one boot, but when I started the laptop again same problem.

I then downloaded copy of the driver from a different site, clicked on the app and nothing happened.

I went back into device manager and the driver had disappeared and stayed gone for a few reboots.

So I went direct to the MSI site and downloaded the driver from there. Rebooted. The touchpad worked until I logged into windows where it stopped again. The driver was back in Device Manager when I checked. So I tried to re-install it manually from there.


However, I delete the driver and it tells me to reboot, after reboot the driver is back. I tell it to update to the driver from MSI and it tells me the best driver is already installed. Clearly not!

So it's gone from disappearing to never going away. I'm starting to pull my hair out here. I've emailed MSI as I paid quite a lot for this laptop.

Can you help? I can't understand why it would suddenly stop working, or it's resisting my attempts to put it right.

Are you saying you have no options like Touchpad sensitivity. Settings > Devices > Touchpad > Additional settings > Device settings Tab. and the F3 touchpad on/off does not work.
