My new laptop was working perfectly, then I got notified to install some windows updates. I did so. Now I was installing an app when it came that my device ran into a problem and needs to restart. The restart couldn’t complete and now when I try to boot it “no bootable device” appears. I have pressed the power button on and off many times but still the same

  2. Laptop "ran into problem and needs to restart" but can't restart

    Hello Jonathan Ndayiragije

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hello Jonathan, it sounds like your laptop is experiencing a significant issue that's preventing it from restarting properly. This could be due to a number of reasons, such as software corruption, hardware failure, or a problematic update. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

    1. Force Shutdown and Restart:
      1. Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until the laptop turns off.
      2. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button again to turn it back on.
      3. See if this allows the laptop to start up normally.
    2. Access Safe Mode:
      1. Restart your laptop and press the F8 key (or Shift + F8 or just F11, depending on the make and model of your laptop) repeatedly as it starts up.
      2. This should bring you to the Advanced Boot Options menu, where you can select "Safe Mode".
      3. If you can access Safe Mode, you can perform further diagnostics, uninstall recent updates, or restore your system to a previous point.
If there is anything not clear or I can't understand your problem, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards

  3. This PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.

I ran into this problem, This PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. I talked to a Answer Desk tech guy and he gave me steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Fix blue screen error by updating the display adapter:

    1. Right click on start menu and click on device manager.

    2. On the list of devices menu, please choose display adapter.

    3. Please do click on display adapter then see what are the display devices on the list. (For me, it is: Intel HD Graphics & Microsoft Basic Display Adapter)

    4. Please choose Intel HD Graphics then click on next to install it.

    5. It should say installing a success.

    6. Restart your device for the change to take into affect.

At least Intel HD Graphics is for my device.

p.s. The blue screen error has something to do with display adapter? Intel graphics driver is the device to make the viewing display work properly. Also, the updates should be able to detect updates, but in many cases, it will not, since the latest driver
is updated. That is when manually update driver is needed. He told me that he helped people with this type of issue many of times. That should work for others who have the same issues as me. My new laptop told me my device ran into a problem and needs to restart. After a while when... :) Good luck!
