Windows 10: My new Microsoft mouse will not work with my Surface, any help?

I just bought a Microsoft Modern Mobile Mouse to use with my new Surface Pro 6, but it will pair, connect, and then automatically disconnect. It stays 'paired' but not connected. I have not been able to use the mouse with my Surface. I have tried using the mouse with other laptops in my home with Windows 11 and Windows 10, and it will work and stay connected to all of them. I am not able to get the mouse to work with my Surface, on Windows 11. Any suggestions or help?

Surface Arc Mouse (2017) Stopped Working

My current build is Windows 10 Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.483).
I tried all the troubleshooting you suggested below and although it indicates that my Surface Arc Mouse is “Connected” it still does not work.

Normally, this issue may occur due to the incompatibility of the driver or if there were settings that were not configured properly. We'd like to know if you're getting any error messages when trying to pair your mouse with your PC. Also, have you tried using
a different mouse on your Surface Pro 2017?
