Windows 10: My new SSD is recognized as an microsoft storage space device

I have 3 disk drives installed on my laptop.1- a 512GB SSD boot drive with windows installed on it.2- a 1TB SSD with games installed on it which is the drive that is recognized as a microsoft storage space device.3- a 1TB HDD which is empty with nothing on it.My boot drive and my HDD drive are recognized by their type and serial number,but my 1tb sdd just says microsoft storage space device in the task manager how can i convert my sdd to match the normal ssd.

The ssd drive showing up as a microsoft storage space device instead of a boot drive is an internal drive.

 

VMware-usb storage device not recognized

Hello,

I'm running Windows XP in Workstation Player on a Windows 10 laptop.

My USB CD/DVD drive is able to mount in the Player. So is a flash drive.

My Western Digital ssd (My Passport Ultra) is listed in "Removable devices", but fails to mount, giving this error:





In the Virtual Machine settings, the USB controller is using usb 2.0.

The WD ssd is compatible with usb 3.0 and 2.0, and is supported by Windows XP. My desktop computer running Win XP has no problem mounting the drive.

The device manager in virtual Win XP shows it as an "unknown device."

I've read everything I can find on the problem, and tried a number of suggestions from the knowledge base at VMware as well as solutions via google searches.

Perhaps the WD ssd just won't work on the free version of VM Workstation Player (v. 14).

Anyone have any suggestions?

Microsoft storage space device?

Please Note the following process will remove you drive form storage spaces, it will also wipe that drive back to Unallocated Space

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to System - Storage

Click 'Manage Storage Spaces'

Click 'Change Settings' and if necessary, confirm that choice

On that drive, click 'Prepare for Removal'

That drive will be listed as 'Preparing for removal'

Wait until that drive is listed as ' Ready to remove', Click Remove - Remove Drive

Then open Disk Management (accessible by right clicking your Start Button

Right clcik the Unallocated space on that drive and choose 'New - Simple Volume' then accept the defaults

You will then have a full clean drive ready to use . . .
