  1. my nvidia driver keeps on crashing

so i was previously on linux and everything was finei installed windows, installed my GPU driver for RTX 3050everything seems to run smoothly until i try to shutdown/restart the pc, it doesn't respond AT ALL, so i attempt to force shutdownwhen i do that, i boot up the PC, and it emits a black screen, whichto fix i have to boot in safe mode and uninstall the driversthe gpu works fine itself, it seems the issue lies on my system or something. any solutions?

    :)

NVIDIA driver keep crashing on Windows 10

    Hi,

As far as I know, many Asus monitors do not have WQHL driver on Windows 10 and are refered as Generic PnP Monitor in
Device Manager. The software on Asus download site is just an optional software, not a driver.

But I think I've found a solution myself, after doing these steps:

    • Uninstall NVIDIA driver using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and clean install it again.
    • Open Device Manager, expand the Display Adapters menu, right-click on the graphic card's name and choose
      Update Driver.
    • On the popup dialog, click on Browse my computer for driver software.
    • Click on Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
    • Select Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and click Next, wait for the installation to complete, then Reboot the system.

    • After the system booted up, open the Device Manager and repeat those steps to get back to the list of the drivers on the system, this time select the right driver for the graphic card (mine is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970) and
click Next, wait for the installation to complete, then Reboot the system again.
After this step, I've experienced no crash until now. I'll also delete those "ghost" devices and continue testing my system for several days to make sure the problem is gone.

I'm not sure why the clean install of the driver, or even Windows, does not work, but these switching driver steps does the trick.

    I'll update more info later.

Thank you for your time. Best wishes.

  3. NVidia Driver Keeps Crashing

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will certainly assist you with the issue.

Follow the steps below mad check if it helps.

    Method 1:
I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall latest display drivers
    from the manufacturer website.

    Step 1:
Follow these steps to un-install the Graphics driver:
    a. Drag the mouse to bottom left corner and right-click on the “Start icon”.
    b. Expand “Display adapters”.
    d. Right-click on the Display adapters and click on “Uninstall”.

    Step 2:
You may download and install the latest display drivers from the manufacturer website. Refer the below link.

Download The Latest Official NVIDIA Drivers

Note: If there are no Windows 10 drivers available for graphics card. Then you may install the Windows 8 drivers in compatibility mode.

Install the driver in Compatibility mode:
    a. Download the latest Display driver for Windows 8 from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.
    b. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.
    c. Select “Compatibility” Tab.
    d. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select Windows 10 from the drop down list.
    e. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

Hope this helps. Get back to us if you need further assistance.
