Document folder renamed as recycle bin

I'm running a 1TB hybrid HD as C: drive in my PC and a 4TB Hard Drive as an internal backup which contains various archives of music, movies, old videos that have been transferred to digital format and so on.

    These list as

    F:Cinema

    F:Music

and so on, all perfectly normal.

For unknown reasons the F:music folder has been renamed and identified as the recycle bin. If i enter it i can see the items in the main C: drive recycle bin, however if i go into properties for the F:recycle bin and tell it to show the hidden files then
it will list all the sub-folders and files but wont let me access it. It also lists all the sub-folders as being present and the correct folder size

If i try and fix the F:recycle bin it tries to change the C: genuine recycle bin instead

If i run recuva it will let me identify and retrieve most of the individual files

If i create a new folder named F:music the system instantly renames it to F:recycle bin, claims it already exists and rejects the new name

Apart from updating GOM player nothing has been changed on the system since yesterday so i'm puzzled what has caused the renaming and how to fix it.

I can recover the files, probably in their entirety or replace large parts of it from old data but i need to know what caused it so it doesnt happen again.

  3. Old recycle bin folder points to new recycle bin folder instead of the original?

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

The contents of the Recycle Bin are stored in the hidden folder "$Recycle.Bin" on the drive where the files were deleted from. When you copied the C drive of the old Windows 10 system to the secondary drive of your new Windows 11 system, the Recycle Bin contents were also copied along with it. However, Windows 11 might be treating the copied "$Recycle.Bin" folder as the Recycle Bin folder for its own system, which is why it opens its own Recycle Bin instead of the copied one.

To access the Recycle Bin of the old Windows 10 system, you need to restore the deleted files from the "$Recycle.Bin" folder you copied to your secondary drive. You can use the "attrib" command to remove the "hidden" attribute from the "$Recycle.Bin" folder and access its contents.

To mark the entire "OLDC" directory as non-executable, non-system, etc., you can use the "attrib" command to change the attributes of all files and folders within the directory recursively. For example, to remove the "hidden" and "system" attributes, you can use the following command:

    attrib -h -s D:\OLDC* /S

Note that modifying system files can be dangerous and might cause issues with the system. You should only make these changes if you know what you're doing and have backup of your data.

    Regards.

  4. My old PC a HP Z640 have in its Recycle bin many many files/folders from One-drive folders...

Winndows 10 delete multiple files or folders do not show in recycle bin

    Hi R-A-M-A-I-R,

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

    • Where is the folder located? Is it on your primary hard drive where the Windows 10 is installed/ secondary hard drive/ external hard drives like flash drive etc.?(which you have deleted accidentally)

    • Since when you are facing this issue?

    • Have you enabled the option “Don’t move files to Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted” under the Recycle Bin properties?
Until you will get back to us, you may follow the below suggestions and check if it helps.

This happens when you permanently delete a file from your computer without sending it to the Recycle Bin by clicking the file and then pressing
Shift + Delete keys on the keyboard.

Try the steps and check whether this issue is happening with all folders in computer or particular folders to isolate the issue.

    • Open the Desktop, right click on the empty area and click on
New and then click on Folder.

    • Now, new folder might have been created on your desktop.

    • Right click on your New folder (which you have created) and click on
      Delete.

    • Now, open the Recycle bin and check if you are able to see the folder which you have deleted.
You may disable the steps if you have enabled the option “Don’t move files to Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted” in Recycle bin folder.

    • Open the Desktop, locate the Recycle bin, right click on it and select
      Properties.

    • Select the drive on which you are facing this issue (like C:\ or D:\ or F:\ etc.)

    • Click on Custom size option instead of “Don’t move files to Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted

    • Check the box Display delete confirmation dialog.

    • Click on Apply and OK buttons.

    • Reboot the computer and check if it helps.
I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.
