my one note data has vanished. How to retrieve. I have freed up space in the one drive and still finding it difficult to trace my one note files

C drive space not freed after deleting a program.

I installed a file containing 2 programs from a pirate website. After deleting one of the apps, I checked my C drive and the space wasn't freed. When I tried downloading the second program I stopped it mid through because I decided I wouldn't really need it. However it still claimed storage space somehow. Both programs took about 2 gb and although not a lot I still wonder why the space hasn't come back after 3 days. I searched the name of the app I had downloaded on File Explorer yet I found no files related to it. I did an antivirus scan and everything turned out well. I've performed a disk clean up, and also have checked what files are taking most of my space, and its ones I alredy know of.

Note: A few days ago I got 6 gb freed on my C Drive without doing anything, I guess some temporary files must've been deleted.

Is it normal for you to not get your space freed after deleting an app? I have 128 gb total in my C Drive so 2gb are quite a lot to me.

 

Deleted Windows.old, not enough disk space freed

1. Did you empty the recycle bin ? If not, empty it.
2. Delete the contents under: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
   Those are downloaded Windows Updates files and already installed.
3. Open Admin command, copy and paste the line below then run:
   Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
   This should remove all the no longer used by component store. Will take a while to run.

 

Not enough space even though there is space

Step 1:

I suggest you to change the file system to NTFS while formatting and then try copying the files and check.



Step 2:

• • Take the backup of the data, if you have any important data in it?
    
  • Let’s format the drive and check.
    
  • Go to this PC.
    
  • Right click on the external USB device.
    
  • Select Format.

Note: Formatting will delete all the data in the device, taking a backup of the data is recommended before performing a format.
