Windows 10: My Outlook app disappeared with the latest Windows 10 update

I tried to launch Outlook 2016/365 after the latest Windows 10 update. It goes through "processing" then stops. Won't open in safe mode. Can't even find Outlook in the list of Apps. Windows 10 set Mail and Calendars as my default email handler with this update. This is interfering with my business. I am going to try to reinstall Outlook and reconfigure/setup my email accounts, but I've lost a good half-day of work.

Assuming "outlook app" = Win10's Mail app...

Step 1: Make sure your computer is completely up to date.

Step 2: Open the Mail app and delete/remove all accounts.

• Go to settings.
• Manage accounts.
• Click on your account
• Remove this account from your device
• Delete

Step 3: Restart your computer.

Step 4: Open the Mail app & recreate the account anew.

• Add account.
• Click Microsoft account
• Add the account.

This is an awkward problem to solve and one I don't think is worth the time and effort.

The OP would be better off either using a modern webmail service like gmail or outlook.com or using a modern email client like Windows Live Mail like FX-GMC suggested or Thunderbird from Mozilla. If nothing else, Outlook Distress was notorious for corrupting its data files and losing all your email in one easy step. Not worth it.
