Windows 10: My pc boots into windows boot manager instead of my SSD

Ive had this issue before where my computer is working fine the day before , booting windows off my ssd and not having a single problem. To me turning it on the next day and only booting to windows boot manager. I go look in the bios and my ssd boot drive is no where to be found, the only option is Windows Boot Manager ST2000DM008-2FR102. This however fixed after a couple of days and everything appeared back to normal in the bios until a couple of days ago. It happened again and hasnt fixed after almost a week. I thought it could be a faulty connection so I bough new SATA cables and they f

Was the HDD reformatted when you make it as the secondary drive? or not?

Please try these steps

Note: Connect both your SSD and HDD. SSD will be your first boot.

1. When you login in windows, go to run and type msconfig

2. In System Configuration screen, go to Boot tab

3. If you see multiple OS in the list, select the OS on the SSD

4.Click Set as Default button.

5. Restart your PC and check.

Unable to boot Windows after cloning it to SSD

I understand that you are facing issues while booting the PC after cloning Windows to new SSD. I would like to know what happens when you try to boot the PC to desktop using SSD?



The reason you are not able to boot the PC is that the files required to boot Windows are still recognizing the HDD as the main drive. I would suggest you to try rebuilding the BCD files and see if you are able to boot the PC using
SSD.



Kindly follow the steps below to rebuild the BCD.

1. Create a bootable media and boot the PC using the media.
2. On the Install Windows screen, select Next >
   Repair your computer.
3. On the System Recovery Options screen, select
   Troubleshoot> Advanced options > Command Prompt.
4. Now type in the commands and hit enter: BOOTREC /FIXMBR
   
   BOOTREC /FIXBOOT
   
   BOOTREC /scanos
   
   BOOTREC /rebuildbcd
5. Restart the PC.

If the issue persists, please get back to us with the results of the troubleshooting steps to assist you further.

Windows Boot Manager

I recently installed a Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe drive to replace my current 860 EVO boot drive. I used the Samsung Data Migration tool to clone the boot drive and then restarted the PC. After numerous failed attempts to reboot, I noticed that there were
now two Windows Boot Managers in the UEFI boot priority list. Tried rearranging them, but it still would not boot. Ultimately, I removed the 970 EVO Plus and eventually got it to boot into Windows with the 860 EVO SSD. However, I still have the two Windows
Boot Managers in the UEFI boot priority list.

What might have caused this and how do I remove one of the Boot Managers?
