My motherboard is Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2 with two RAM slots. My problem start after my power supply stop working I take my PC to service after a week my PC was ready to be use with installed new Windows 11 Pro 64 bit .but when I get home and power up my PC my RAM was only 8GB before to take my PC to service was 16 GB two RAM sticks 2 x 8 GB 1600MHz . I go to the bios to check why my PC is use only one RAM stick. The values on one of the RAM sticks was with very low values compare to working RAM stick both RAM sticks are same model is like PC is not recognize it. I ring to the service to ask them

System not detecting slot 1 with 4GB RAM.

I found the reason why the RAM in the other slot is not getting detected.
In laptop RAM slots the pins on the bottom connector are a little curved so that it can push the RAM to make contact with the pins on the top connector when we press-fit the RAM in its place. The fit is such that the RAM is held in place with all 204 pins in contact.
In my laptop, the pins on the second slot are not having enough curvature on the bottom pins. Hence, when I place the RAM in the slot and press it down, the pins never get connected to the top connector. Moreover the connection is so loose that I can easily slide the RAM out of place even after press-fitting it. So, the RAM is never detected! *Sad

Unfortunately my laptop is long out of warranty and nothing will be done by the OEM.
The only way I can now upgrade is to put an 8 GB RAM in the slot which is working fine (easier way) or get the RAM connectors changed.

Thanks for all your suggestions and help.

I can't quite make out the picture in the service manual for the Pavilion G6 2005AX, but I believe that the SODIMMs are retained in the usual manner: metal clips that capture the notches on the ends of the modules. The normal way to mount a SODIMM is to push it into its slot, and then pivot it about the end with the contacts until the clips latch the SODIMM.

(It's significantly different from how a desktop DIMM mounts.)

That doesn't match what you describe. I can't explain the discrepancy.

I'm not sure, but the laptop may not accept 8GB DIMMs.

    RAM not detected

Recently I bought a new 4GB DDR4 RAM stick for my pc with the hope of doubling it, previously I had one 4GB stick. I bought the same brand same model RAM (Crucial Basics 4GB DDR4 RAM, model number: CB4GU2666). When I installed it into the other memory slot of the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H, rev 2.0, has two memory slots, dual-channel configuration) and tried to boot up, it disappointed me. It didn't boot up. But the fans (CPU fan, power supply fan, and the cabinet fan) were moving.

Firstly I thought that the RAM is faulty, but it isn't. When I replaced the old RAM and put it into that slot (slot 2), it finely boots up. So the new RAM is okay.

Case 1: Any RAM (one at a time) in slot 1, the system does not boot up.

Case 2: Any RAM (one at a time) in slot 2, the system boots up and works fine.

Case 3: Putting the two RAMs in both slots i.e. the new into slot 1 and the old into slot 2 or the new into slot 2 and the old into slot 1, the system doesn't boot up. The same happens as case 1. It seems strange to me! If the slot 1 is not detecting the RAM, the system ought to boot up as the slot 2 works fine. The slot 2 not only denies to detect RAM but also preventing to boot up (as another slot has a RAM) whenever I put a RAM into it.

Please suggest what I should do
