My PC games are not working, Probably a GPU problem.

My 1 1/2 year old Acer Predator laptop is getting game crashes for the past few months, however it has been really picking up in the past few days. It seems to be a GPU problemMy Geforce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU is fully updated, and doesn't seem to have any problems with it. Whenever I open up a game it crashes within about 5 minutes, does anybody know how to help me out?

    :)

Many PC Problem (I think is GPU?)

It sounds like you may be experiencing a hardware or driver compatibility issue with your GPU. Upgrading your GPU can sometimes cause problems like this if the new GPU is not fully compatible with your system or if the drivers are not installed correctly. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check to see if the GPU is properly seated in the PCI-E slot. Make sure the connections are tight and that there is no dust or debris blocking the connections.
    2. Make sure that the GPU is getting adequate power. Check to see if the power supply is providing enough wattage to power the GPU, and make sure that the GPU's power cables are securely plugged in.
    3. Check for any BIOS updates for your motherboard. A new version of the BIOS can help fix compatibility issues with newer hardware.
    4. Check for any firmware updates for the GPU.
    5. Try reinstalling the video card drivers. Make sure to use the latest version of the drivers from the manufacturer's website, and use the "clean install" option when reinstalling to ensure that all previous driver files are removed.
    6. Make sure that your system is running on the latest Windows updates.
    7. Try to run hardware monitoring software while reproducing the problem, to identify the cause.
    8. Try running the game or program in question in compatibility mode or in windowed mode, to see if that makes a difference.
    9. Lastly, If you have another GPU or another PC nearby, test to check if the GPU is faulty or if it has compatibility issues with your PC.
It's also worth noting that if none of these steps work, it's possible that your GPU may have a hardware problem and may need to be replaced. If you suspect that the GPU is faulty it's better to contact the vendor to see if it is still under warranty.

DirectX 11 Suddenly Won't Work on Newer Title Game.

    Hello FumoRin,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The 0x887A0006 error message indicates an issue with your PC’s display (graphics) adapter. Specifically, it suggests that there might be an outdated or incompatible graphics driver. Let’s troubleshoot this problem:

    1. Stop CPU / GPU Overclocking:

    1. If you’re overclocking your CPU or GPU during gameplay, it could lead to crashes and trigger the Error 0x887A0006.
      • Set your CPU and GPU clock speeds back to normal and restart your PC. Check if the issue persists.
    2. Update Your Graphics Driver:

    1. Corrupted or outdated graphics drivers can cause this error.

    3. Try running the game in windowed mode instead of full screen.

    4. Try disabling any third-party software that may be interfering with the game, such as antivirus or firewall software.

    5. Repair the game

    • Open the Xbox app for Windows.
    • In My Library, select the game title.
    • Select the More options (…) button and choose Manage.
    • Select Files and then Verify and repair.

If none of these steps work, you may want to contact the game's developer or your PC manufacturer for further assistance. They may be able to provide more specific troubleshooting steps for their game.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,

Why does my cpu and gpu keep spiking and dropping fps in games?

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

Experiencing CPU and GPU spikes, along with FPS drops in games, can be frustrating. Here are some potential solutions to help you address these issues:

    1. Update Drivers:
      • Regularly update your graphics and chipset drivers to the latest versions to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
    2. Close Background Processes:
      • Use Task Manager to close unnecessary background processes and applications that might be using system resources.
    3. Improve Cooling:
      • Clean your PC's fans and ensure proper airflow. Consider adding more fans or using a more aggressive cooling solution if necessary.
    4. Check for Malware:
      • Run a full system scan to check for malware that might be using system resources.
    5. Adjust Game Settings:
      • Lower the game's graphical settings to reduce the workload on your GPU and CPU. This can help maintain a more stable FPS.
    6. Test Hardware:
      • Test your GPU and other hardware components on another system to rule out hardware failure. If a component is faulty, consider replacing it.
    7. Enable Unified GPU Usage Monitoring:
      • If using MSI Afterburner, enable "unified GPU usage monitoring" to potentially fix usage spikes and stuttering.
    8. Check Internet Connection:
      • Ensure your internet connection is stable, especially for online games. A weak connection can cause FPS drops.

Please do let me know if the method I suggested works for you or if you need further assistance.
