my pc is acting up and not letting me use my windows key, open apps, or open settings

I am unable to open hardly any of my apps. When i do it says "explorer.exe: class not registered". I am able to open my task manager and i've tried doing a scan but nothing came out of that after the reset. I am able to open my browser and a few of my game launchers but am unable to actually launch any of my games. It is taking around five or so minutes for me to even log onto my computer. I am unable to click on or access settings, notifications, or anything on my taskbar. After waiting about fifteen or so minutes it will launch my wallpaper engine and start up steam like it normally does whe

    :)

  2. ACT Pro 2013 will not open in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The most likely causes on a standalone are a damaged or invalid .pad file or SQL is not running, or is damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

      • Click your Windows Start button, choose Run and type in actdiag.

      • When ACT! Diagnostics comes up, click Databases, the Database List.

      • Locate your database in the list, right-click on it and select Detach. Make sure you know the filepath to your database before detaching it.

      • When the database has been detached, open My Computer (or Windows Explorer) and browse to the location of your database.

      • Locate the .PAD file for your database [database name].pad and delete it.

      • Reopen ACT!...you will get a message that the last database opened cannot found, then will be taken to the Open Database dialog box.

      • At the bottom of this box, change the Files of Type to .adf, browse to the location of your database and double-click on the .adf file for your database.

      • You will get a message that ACT! will verify your database, click OK and ACT will reattach your database to SQL and create a new .pad file.

      • Hope this helps.

  3. Open settings of Windows 8 App

    Hi Thomas,

In response to your query, please be informed that Windows 10 is in the list of supported operating system for Modern Reader. Also, the swipe from the right option is for Windows 8 and 8.1 therefore, that step will not open the settings. However, most
apps have their own settings, therefore, I suggest you to look for a gear icon in the app and check if you are able to find the option you are looking for.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. my pc is acting up and not letting me use my windows key, open apps, or open settings :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
