    Hello, I have a gaming computer that I build about a year ago. Ive had it plugged in the entire time to ethernet and never really noticed but I did a speed test and it was only getting 95 mbps. I pay for gigabit and all my other pcs around the house all get 800+ mbps. I checked the properties of this computer and under link speed, it says 100/100 mbps and not 1000. Ive attempted to do research online for it but have found nothing that has worked. I checked the advance section of the configuration of the ethernet under speed and duplex and its set to auto. I attempted to change it to 1 Gb but t

    If you simply copy a large file from desktop to desktop you can see the transfer rate probably at 100% capacity.

    Except I expect you may not even manage 10MB/s.

    And if you were to read the threads on tenforums about this as I suggested, you would learn more.

    HDD Maxing out at 1 MBPS

    I don't know why it's doing this. But when I run the disk speed benchmark it goes all the way up to 96 Mbps, but when it stops it's still at 100% at around 1 Mbps???
    It's currently stuck on this, so I have no clue if this is normal or not.

    Ethernet speed capped at 100 Mbps

    I have a Lenovo Legion T5 28IMB05, and my Ethernet connection is capped at 100 Mbps.

    Things I have already tried and didn't work:

    • Switch to another cable. Originally, I had a CAT5e and as my speed was capped, I bought a CAT6. It didn't help (though I'm still using it)
    • Force the driver to use 1000 Mbps full duplex
    • Try my cable and router with another PC. It works
    • Try to boot from a live USB running Ubuntu 21.10. It also didn't reach full speed
    The funny thing is that if a plug a USB Ethernet adapter (TP-link UE330), it reaches gigabit speeds with that cable and router; and then if I reconnect the cable to the Ethernet port on my PC, IT WORKS at gigabit speeds for as long as I have the PC turned on. When I restart, it goes back to 100 Mbps.

    As of course, I prefer not to have to depend on a USB dongle to reach full speed on my network, what can I do?
