Windows 10: My pc is showing 100% disk usage on 1MB/s when the gpu is under load.

I started experiencing this after my brother installed some malware on my pc while playing CS GO. I have removed all the malware i could find and have ran memory and disk tests which have shown me nothing but positive results, but when i run furmark the disk usage climbs to 100%. I also have noticed my nothbridge overheating which might be the issue. I also have a shady 600W psu that needs changing because it is old and I don't trust it.
I have
CPU: intel i5 3330
GPU: Nvidia gforce gtx680 refrence
RAM: 8GB kingston value ram
PSU: 600W super cheap generic psu that came with the case
HDD: wdc wd5000aakx-001ca0 500GB that needs changing
MOBO: msi MSI H61MA-E35 (B3)

Edit:

I found out the reason for my hdd stopping while under load was that one of my 6 pins was a 2molex to 6pin adapter and one of the molex cables was also the one powering my hdd through a sata power cable.So i plugged in a different one and now it's fine. Ty for all your help.

Windows 10 is giving my D Drive ****...

So.. Now I'm thinking the problem might be my storage HDD itself.

When I run a benchmark on it everything seems fine, speeds around 100MB/s but when Windows is accessing the drive it's saying 100% disk usage, but only reading or writing ~0.5-1MB/s. The drive also failed to show up on my last two reboots but it showed up
again on the third boot which has me worried.

It passed a S.M.A.R.T test on Seatools just fine a few minutes ago, but I'm running a FixAll test now and it's saying 100% disk usage with zero read and write speeds.

I'm thinking that all the activity I saw earlier was just a lot of normal Windows activity (a few kb/s) but with some performance issues and maybe some failed/repeated reads, and Task Manager was showing it as 100% disk usage for some reason.

Time to buy a new HDD I think..

 

High disk usage on Windows and apps startup

Hi,

When I'm starting up my Windows 10, it's quite fast to get to the login screen as you would expect with my specs. After typing in my password the problems start. It's sometimes painfully slow to get all of my basic programs loaded (sound card software, google
chrome, antivirus) or even Windows so that I can start using my PC without making it to freeze completely for about a minute.

This happens because my disk usage is 100% during startup and login. It's either System (PID 4) or some else app like Avast! or Google Chrome using some disk to startup. The disk read speeds vary but I usually get 100% disk usage with 0.1-20 MB/s transfer
rates. (I can get max around 120 MB/s read speed)

Also wanted to mention that sometimes my pc completely freezes for like a minute or so with 0-0.1 MB/s disk read/write speed (or at least Task Manager says so) with again 100% disk usage.

High disk usage can also occur when Windows is loaded, but there's file transfer going on like updating Steam games or just opening Skype. Disk usage gets usually back to around 0% when the app is fully loaded or the game has been updated but this extends
startup time for almost all apps radically or slows them down.

Could this be a software issue or a hardware? Any help is appreciated!

OS: Windows 10 64-bit

 

Furmark is an intensive program designed to do that

 

But the same is with any intesive gpu load if I start playing any game the disk usage goes up to 100% with little to nothing writing or reading.

 

Sounds like some malware may still be in there. Check the user app data roaming file for something strange

Could be an hardrive issue too. Run some HD diagnostics

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools Tutorial

 

I have ran it and it ran all the tests fine.
