  1. My pc is still slow after migrating to SSD

Hi, I'm using a Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop. because it was very slow from the day I bought it, I decided to buy an SSD to solve this problem. After plugging the SSD, my pc was working great, just as I expected even though I didn't migrate Windows and configure boot options yet. Then I migrated Windows to my new SSD using the Macrium software. Now that the system is migrated and the pc is booting on SSD, it's still very slow, just like it was before. To make sure everything is working, I used task manager to check both of them. Everything on my SSD is 0, including response time, reading, and wri

  3. OS Migration

I have a PC that has become very slow at booting up. Sometimes it takes so long to be ready to use, I have to re-boot it again in order for it so be useable at all. It has 2 x 1TB HDDs in it & the one with the OS on it is at about 95% full. So I guess that
this could be the reason it is so slow to get going.

    • Would it improve it at all if I was to migrate the OS onto an SSD?
    • Is it possible to migrate the OS alone to the SSD & leave all the data on the HDD?
    • If it is, what then happens to the OS on the HDD?
    • Also what happens to access to existing data in Windows folders like Documents, music etc?
    So many questions.

This is probably in the wrong section but I couldn't find anything appropriate.

    slow ssd

    Hi,

Slow SSD performance can be caused by several factors like Hybernation mode and Superfetch service.

As an initial troubleshooting step, try disabling Hibernate mode since it is unnecessary for the SSD system as it takes too much time to boot from it.

    • Open Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Enter the administrator credentials once prompted.
    • In the Command Prompt window, type or copy and paste this command:

      powercfg -h off
    • Press Enter.

Note: Once Hibernate is already disabled, you can also free up some space to improve its performance.

We also recommenddisabing Superfetch as one way to optimize the SSD performance:

    • Press Windows key + R to open the Run
      dialog box.
    • Type services.msc and press Enter.
    • Scroll down and right-click on Superfetch.
    • Select Stop.

Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.
