Windows 10: My PC keeps changing its LAN network name on its own

    My PC keeps changing its LAN network name on its own


    That causes a loss of network connection and internet access. I reboot the device and the network name restores but then, an hour later it changes again and connection is lost. My PC is connected to the CenturyLink modem via a NetGear WN3000 WiFi Range Extender. All other wireless devices are not affected.

    We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

    • Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
    • Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.

    Change name of Network

    I am connected to my private network by USB however in the list of networks available there are at least 3 listed as "Network" including mine.

    How can I change the network name to, say, the name of my device?
