Windows 10: My PC keeps crashing after a close any game

After i close a game no matter the size of it keeps crashing. My PC runs perfectly fine when im on the game or when im just generally doing things but when i had animated wallpapers it was also doing it even if i wasnt on a game. My screen just freezes and i cant even turn it of at the top of the PC so im having to turn the power of at the back with the kill switch and then turn it on and off that way. Its been happening for a month now and i dont have a clue how to fix it im on the latest drivers done virus checks cleared spac on SSD and hard drive. The only thing i can think to do is reinsta

Hi Morning,

I have tried both of those things you have suggested but to no avail.

I have paid a pc specialist to come around and have a look and they made sure bios and drivers were up to date but couldnt replicate the crashes ive been getting.

I am still managing to play the one game i have with friends.

Sometimes if i logout back to main menu of game it will crash, restart pc. other times it wont and then other times it crashes, restarts pc shortly after closing game

• VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE is a blue screen error message that is usually directly related to the graphics card driver.
  
• nvlddmkm.sys is the core program of the graphics card, so I judge that the problem you are experiencing may be related to the graphics card driver.
  

You can try the following:

1. Update the graphics card driver . The steps can be referred to:

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
