I'm on windows 11 with i5-9600k and 2060. My pc will lose focus on any Fullscreen application and go back after a short white screen of nothing. I've checked for malicious softwares multiple times. I have disabled pretty much everything on startup and disabled widgets, Microsoft teams, etc. Also I upgraded from windows 11 i didn't do a clean install.

Applications consistently losing focus - possibly conhost.exe ?

I have an issue where every 20-30 minutes any fullscreen application loses focus. For example if I have a game running it will minimize. I've tried Focus Logger and the only thing that comes up when it happens is conhost.exe

I also just did a SFC scan and it found no errors. This is a brand new PC and genuine windows installation. I've also tried disabling all startup processes and services that aren't microsoft and it still happens consistently. I've updated all drivers straight from the manufacturers, ran virus scan, extensive searching for possible solutions and I can't seem to find a fix anywhere.

I have continued to do thorough testing and troubleshooting, including reinstalling windows (not a full, clean install yet) and Focus Logger still reveals conhost.exe is stealing focus and minimizing my full screen applications. I guess since nobody else seems to have encountered this problem, or rather, has not pinpointed conhost.exe as being the culprit, I will have no other choice than to try a clean install. Microsoft seems to have no idea what's going on and I can't seem to find any help anywhere.

How do you make the taskbar show on top of a fullscreen program when it loses focus

I have searched for days now on how you are supposed to make the taskbar render on top of a fullscreen application when it loses focus and I have found absolutely nothing.

Example on how i used to do it:

My main monitor would be running a borderless windowed program and if I need to access the taskbar I'd just need to click somewhere on my secondary monitor so that the fullscreen program lose focus and the taskbar shows up.

This is not the case currently on my W10 install as it seems the only way to bring up the taskbar is to press the windows key on my keyboard.....

    Focus Assistant on 1903

    Greetings.

Can anyone help me figure out how the Focus assistant in Windows 10 build 1903 works exactly? Because right now I have it to"off" in the Setting menu, but everytime I do stuff it turns itself "on" by its own and keeps reminding me that "notifications will remain silent in the action center while you're in fullscreen mode". Here's how it behaves to me at the moment:

    • Desktop only - Alarm Mode On (sleep symbol)
    • Opening Edge - Focus Assistant Off
    • Opening Settings - Focus Assistant Off
    • Opening Mail - Focus Asistant Off

Everytime I close and open edge, system menu, mail, calender etc the notification center pops up this message. The way it worked before (on 1809) was that when I played games in fullscreen mode the sleep symbol on the action center became active, but everywhere else it was turned off. Now it seems to think that my desktop is in fullscreen mode? I don't understand how this works exactly. I can open and minimize Edge constantly and the sleep symbol in the bottom right corner will appear and disappear everytime.
