Windows 10: My PC recently upgraded to Win 11 and now emits a random AMBER alert type sound while working

The sound starts when I boot it up, then stops. If I get any alerts it goes off again. I can't play any sound files or it just keeps going. I have tried all the fixes I can find - disable\update\uninstall\reinstall all sound drivers & disable\update\uninstall\reinstall all microphone drivers. My system upgraded a few weeks back and was running fine. But has had a few cumulative updates since then and this started. Not sure if one of them caused the issue.Note even with the sound and microphone drivers uninstalled the sound still happens. I have tried to see if plugging the computer

  When you say ‘’cannot find how to set text message alert sounds’’ are you referring to setup a particular sound/alert for the message or there is no sound alert at all when you received the message?
  

I also like to inform you that, you cannot setup a different alert sound except the inbuilt sound alert. If you refer to setting up your choice sound alert, I suggest you to provide your valuable suggestion and feedback using feedback app.

Emergency Alerts

Just to confirm, is this the same thing that you tried on your phone, in order to turn off Amber Alerts?

• Open Settings.
• Tap on System.
• Tap on Messaging.
• Tap on the Change emergency alert settings link.
• Turn on or off the emergency alerts you want.

Let us know if this was the same thing that you tried.

We would also suggest to reset your phone after doing these steps to ensure that the changes on your phone's settings will be refreshed.

Simply press and hold the Power and Volume down button for 15 seconds and then release your hold afterwards.

 

Random Asterisk Alert Sound

Wild guess. Under Setting>Notifications, do you have any apps set to "Play sound" only, with no banner or toast notification? I'm showing News only as an example here. The one circled, is it the only thing ON for any app?
