Windows 10: My PC with Windows 10 Pro refuses to restart though it will start normally after a full...

My Windows 10 Pro computer refuses to reboot when I do a restart, it shuts down the monitor but fails to completely shut down the computer and restart, forcing me to do a hard reboot. If I choose to shut it down instead and after it shuts down I hit the boot switch it will start normally.

I have researched and tried several solutions from the web without any success and am now without any further idea about what to do to solve this situation.

It used to restart without any problems and this just started happening for no evident reason.

I wonder if any of you has an idea of what's going on and how I can solve this.

PC windows 10 keeps restarting

• Did you make any changes to the PC prior to the issue?

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to boot the computer in safe mode with networking, and check if the issue still persists. This is a diagnostic step towards identifying and isolating the possible cause/s of the issue.

Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words

If you are able to start the PC normally this time. Use the following steps to disable automatic restart in Windows on system failure.

• At "Start" -> "This PC" --> right click on "Properties", and then tap "Advanced system settings".
• In Advanced, click on "Settings" for Startup and Recovery.
• In the Startup and Recovery window, uncheck the Automatically restart check box.
• Click OK.
• 
  Now if the computer generates an error, it should not automatically restart
  

Once this is done, reboot the computer in normal mode and check.

Restart Win 10 from Alternate Shell back to Normal startup

• Are you able to boot your system?

If yes, I suggest you to try the steps below and check.

• From Start, search for msconfig.
• Select msconfig or System Configuration from the search results.
  
• On the General tab, tap or click the Normal Startup option.
• Click OK and restart the system and check.

If not able to boot your system, try the below and check.

• Restart your PC. When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key
  down while you select Power
  
  >
  Restart.
• After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select
  Troubleshoot > Advanced option and then click on
  System Restore.
• Follow the onscreen suggestion to restore your PC to earlier point.
