I have an Asus rog Strix b550f gaming motherboard. I bought this wifi adapter to connect to the internet but after I installed drivers and tried thousands of fixes it still just says, "This device cannot start. Code 10 {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful." I used a temporary USB wifi adapter but it is terrible and I always experience network jitter when I play games even though no one else in my family does. I've been trying to solve this problem for weeks but nothing I find online helps. I tried deleting and reinstalling drivers, I tried installing older versions, I

Installing a ASUS PCE-AX58BT network adapter in my Windows 10 desktop - gives a Code 10

When I installed this adapter, and downloaded the latest drivers from ASUS, under properties, the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz adapter as it is described in my Device Manager list shows -

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}

The requested operation was unsuccessful.

Anyone else had this problem? ASUS says that it may be a Windows problem.

I have neither changed anything in the settings nor downloaded a new program. All of a sudden the WiFi connection was gone and in Device Manager I got "The device cannot be started. (Code 10)

{Operation failed}

The operation could not be carried out." for the Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #2. I'm assuming this is the cause of my problems.

From the above description, I understand you are unable to use USB microphone on your PC running Windows 10.



A Code 10 error is generated in Device Manager in one of the following situations:

• 
  Device Manager cannot start the device.
  
• 
  One of the drivers that the device needs does not start.
  
• 
  Device Manager has insufficient information to recognize the error that is bubbled up by the device driver.
  

Note: In this situation, the Code 10 error can be a very generic message that indicated some kind of unspecified driver or device problem.



Since you have already tried updating, uninstalling-reinstalling the USB device driver, I suggest you to try
compatibility mode option by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



Step 1: Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.

  Download the latest driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website or locate the downloaded driver setup file of the previous operating system in your PC.
  
• 
  Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
  Properties.
  
• 
  Click on the Compatibility tab, check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
  
• 
  Once the driver is installed in compatibility mode,
  restart the PC for the effective changes to take place.
  
• 
  Check if the issue is resolved.
  

Step 2: You can also follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• 
  Press Windows logo key on the keyboard and type
  Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
  
• 
  Select the top most search result and follow from step 2 from the article
  
  Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows (Also applies to Windows 10).
  
• 
  Check if the issue is resolved.
