Windows 10: my product key has become invalid and i am not able to buy a new product key for windows 7

Everytime i put my computer on it says that the product key i typed in is invalid..so i have to buy a new product key for windows 7 ultimate?I also need to buy a new product key as the laptop says that the product key i typed in is invalid..I cannot find
the product key for windows 7 only the one it had before which was windows vista..I bought the laptop from somebody and widows 7 was installed in a shop so i think this copy is not geuine..I need this sorted before I update to windows 10
