Windows 10: My protection history is blank, even when windows notifies me of an issue for controlled...

Additionally I cannot carry out the step to stop and restart Real-Time Protection when I click the toggle button to turn of it flic

I have been searching the internet for months trying to find a solution to this, but all the answers are about anti-virus and this has nothing to do with antivirus.

My issue is with controller folder access.

Apps get blocked all the time, especially games. I start up a game, it tries to create some settings in my local users directories and gets blocked by controlled folder access.

For example, I started up COD and it blocked access to the cod.exe from adding anything to my documents folders.

1. A notification pops up, says that it was blocked
   
2. I click the notification, it takes me to a BLANK protection history.
   

No issue, why dont I go into controlled folder access and fix the issue.

1. I then open the start menu and open up "Controlled folder access" from System settings
   
2. I click "allow an app through Controlled folder access" which prompts you to either browse all apps or look at "recently blocked apps"
   
3. Recently blocked apps is empty, even though on the right side of my screen I have an active notification saying it was blocked.
   
4. I then have to manually find the exe to let it through, which often means multiple steps and searching.
   

This has been a nuance for months and I don't have any custom antivirus or settings, just using basic Windows 10 Home.

Clear Windows Security Center (Defender) Protection History

Did not work for me. After going through all steps I still have protection history full

The protection history file may have been corrupted, clearing the Windows Defender history should fix this problem.

Step 1:

1-Right-click on Start and click on Run

2-Type: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History and click on OK

3-Open the Service folder, select all files inside it and delete them

4-Close the file explorer

Step 2:

1-Click on Start, search for Windows Security, and click on that

2-Click on Virus & Threat protection then click on Manage settings

3-Toggle the button to Off and then to On again, for Real-Time protection and Cloud-delivered protection
