Windows 10: My Prt Sc default app was taken over by Snipping tool after the Windows update. How do I...

Hi I had Lightshot installed as my default screen capturing tool. Pressing PRT SC would open Lightshot. However, after I did the Windows update and it used Snipping tool to take over the PRT SC button as default program and I tried to uninstall Snipping Tool but it still doesn't work . How do I set the PRT SC to use Lightshot as the default program? I have looked for Settings > Hotkeys, but all I found was Default Apps in Windows 11, and this only allows me to set default programs for filetypes.

The Print Screen (Prt Sc) key is useful in getting screen captures and graphics on your Windows 10. If the
Prt Sc key isn't working, please answer these questions so we can isolate the cause:

• When did this start happening?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Does it happen to a specific application or to all applications?

Windows 11 change behavior of Prt Sc

Hi

I had Faststone Capture installed as my default screen capturing tool. Pressing PRT SC would open Faststone Capture.

Last week, I had to install Techsmith Snagit for Video recording purposes.

Now Snagit has taken over the PRT SC button as default program.

How do I set the PRT SC to use Faststone Capture as the default program?

I have looked for Settings > Hotkeys, but all I found was Default Apps in Windows 11, and this only allows me to set default programs for filetypes.

Any picture I take with PRT SC or Snip, it gets corrupted after a few hours or a few days. Anyone know why?

Every time I take a prt sc or snip for my school work or games, after a few hours or days, I will find out that it has been corrupted. It says "Sorry, Photos can't open this file because the format is currently unsupported, or this file is corrupted". This is also the same case with my friend. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the SNIPPING TOOL app and still same problem. It works okay with the Win Key + PRT Sc. Could it be that the Snipping tool app has the problem?
