Windows 10: My recycle bin automatically deletes files even if it's below the limit

I've been having this issue for a while: the recycle bin just deletes everything in it automatically. I have:

• Set the maximum size in properties to 8 GB and it still deletes when it's not even close to that limit
• Still have plenty of space
• Turned off storage sense (and set 'delete files in my recycle bin after' to never)

Am I missing something obvious?

To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

• Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
• Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
• Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.

Recycle Bin – its size exceeds the set limits and stopped automatically deleting old files

However, I have set the maximum size that can hold the Recycle Bin on each disk and this limits stopped to work.

In the past, when I was deleting file that is larger than the maximum size of Recycle Bin on the target drive, I always have been warned about this with a dialog about "permanent deletion":





But now, it even doesn't shows sometimes! It moves, so large files to the Recycle Bin until it takes up all available space beyond the set limit!

You might be experiencing this issue because Recycle Bin is corrupted. If your Recycle Bin is corrupted, you can face various problems when using it such as this behavior. Let's repair Recycle Bin by

using the System File Checker tool. This tool scans for corruptions in Windows system files and restores corrupted files.

• Restart your computer, and Windows will recreate a new Recycle Bin for you.
