Corsair MP500 m.2 or Samsung 960 Pro M.2 ?

One thing that needs mentioning:
M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD's run pretty warm, and under very heavy loads(Like benchmarking software) tend to heat throttle.
You might want to look for any reviews that include the thermals before deciding which one you want.

This is true but also consider good fan configuration to blow some of that heat off or out the back of the case a good airpath will keep it good

Samsung 950 Pro M.2

Hi,

That's what I think as well. I haven't gone through all the specs ofyour board but it sounds as if it's capped by PCIe Gen 2 limitations.
I could well be wrong though.

I know that you could go up to the theoretical 32Gb/s limit with the latest bios updates and adaptor cards offered for all Asus boards sporting either an X99 chipset or a Z97.

There's also a MB manufacturer which offers boosted M2 ports. I think it's MSI, haven't checked that yet.

No idea how well those perform in real life though.
