Windows 10: My screen became reversed from left to right after installing windows

I never run into that problem but when something goes screwy with display I check its flat cable and it's connections first.

 

I will check the flat screen cable & try to clean where it is connected in the motherboard .
Hopefully it fixes the problem

 

Please accept my unreserved apologies for suggesting that your thread was a hoax. I see your most recent image proves that keyboard and external monitor are normal compared to the laptop screen.
Since you can reverse the situation with certain repeated keyboard presses, is it possible that the keyboard is at fault, perhaps due to foreign bodies under the keys or some unknown object (above or below the keyboard module) causing the keys to activate? For instance, insect larvae heading to pupate in a dark spot can wriggle beneath the membranes that hold the key contacts apart, and momentarily operate them. After all, the original apocryphal computer "bug" (Grace Murray Hopper recorded it on Sept. 9 1947) was just that, a bug!

 

Pull the battery pack and pull the CR battery out, which should be where the hard drive is.

 

-Fafhrd- its ok .. & I totally removed the keyboard but it still the same issue . I even unplugged every cable connected to motherboard except the power key cable !

I checked the screen cable .. un-plugged , cleaned it and re-plugged it again many times but nothing changed ...

Ok, after pulling battery back and pulling CR battery out .... at the first boot the display was correct . But after restart the display got reversed again !
then I pulled out the battery and left the CR battery in & with the first boot the view was correct .. but after I made restart it was reversed ... *Huh

 

@Link99, I'm afraid your problem is more serious than a simple mirror-reversal of the screen. I've looked closely at your photo of the two screens. At the small scale there is a lot more going on. Individual vertical strips (probably 4 pixels wide) are NOT mirrored. Within each strip the pixels are displayed in the right order. It is the order of these vertical strips that has been reversed. You can see this clearly in these two snips from your photo. The first is your monitor, the second is the laptop's screen. Note that part of the curve of the capital G is clearly the correct way round on the laptop.







This suggests to me that a hardware fault is the root cause. The address lines that index the horizontal pixel locations are not working correctly. This also suggests that the fault is not in display adapter, some small comfort there. Rather it is somewhere between that and the pixels on the screen. It is possible that an incorrectly seated cable connecting the two could be the problem, but my diagnosis is that it's more likely to be a hardware fault in the screen itself. You may have to replace your screen, I'm afraid.

 

@Link99 As I understand it you say you've re-seated the flat cable that connects to the m/board. There is another connector you could try. It's on the back of the screen itself. You'll need to dismantle the screen itself to get to it.

Warning: there are high voltages here for the backlight! disconnect the battery and power cord before proceeding!

By "totally removed the keyboard" did you mean disconnected the built-in keyboard and used a USB keyboard in place of it?

I hadn't suggested that it was a cable or connector problem in this case, but there may be some physical problem with some of the keys on the laptop keyboard - which give the signal on booting to the display system to bring a mirror image to the screen, working on Bro's suggestion that it was kicking into some projector display mode - Particularly since you stated that you could could correct the display using the Ctrl Alt Arrow keypress.

Using an external keyboard with the build in keyboard disconnected - what happens?

 

Yea first I disconnected the keyboard but I didn't insert a USB keyboard ..
but when I insert a USB keyboard it is still the same problem !

Oh my god !!! But what could cause such a damage ?!!
Ok I will check the cable in the back of the screen & I really hope it solve the issue.

 

There is another thing I noticed guys that when the temperature of the laptop is high it works very well without any screen issues ?!

 

That is odd. You can get the parts from the cable to the screen cheaper than a whole new unit and still have it running for a few more years. Also replacing the platter drive with a SSD will extend life, also a new battery may be in order if you have not changed it out.

The only thing that makes any type of computing device obsolete is the Operating System, not the hardware.

 

How do yo know for sure it is user error?
