Windows 10: My second hard drive is suddenly missing. What can I do?

Hello,I have Windows 11 installed on my laptop with two internal drives. The c: drive is an SSD with the OS installed, and the d: drive is a hard drive where I put most of my files. I switched it on today and was greeted with an error saying that locations couldn't be found, and the d: drive is gone from file explorer.Error message:Location is not availableD:\Desktop is unavailable. Second Hard Drive suddenly disappeared

Hi,

I realize that you are facing issue with the second HDD not getting recognized on the PC. I will try to help you with this issue.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

  Is the second HDD an internal drive or an external drive?

  Do you see this drive in the Disk Management screen?
  

Suggest you to run the hardware troubleshooter. Once this is done, restart the computer to check if this helps.

Click on “Hardware and Devices” to run the troubleshooter. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if this helps.
