Windows 10: My second monitor won't stop mirroring my main monitor

Hello, I recently bought an ASUS Tuff gaming monitor to act as my second monitor. My main monitor is an ACER. I had to buy an HMDI splitter because my PC only has one usable port. I got both screens on and connected to the PC, and I have the two monitors connected to each other via HDMI, but for some reason they only mirror one of my monitors instead of extending the screen. I went into the settings, and windows can't seem to detect my second monitor. I also went into the project tab to change it to Extend, but that's not working either. Having second monitor mirror "desktop 2" only

Hello! I have a second monitor that I need to be an extension of my screen. The second monitor can't display the information I have on my laptop screen, and needs its own screen. The problem is I cannot see the second monitor from where my laptop is located, so editing any information on the second monitor is rather difficult. I am curious if it is possible to make the second monitor mirror only "desktop 2," so I can edit what is shown on the second monitor from my laptop screen, but then swap back to desktop 1 so I can keep my notes in front of me without having them mirrored onto the second monitor.

 

how to mirror 2nd monitor to 3rd monitor

I was using win 7 with 3 monitors, extending desktop to second monitor and mirroring the second on the third monitor. I don't see how to do this in Win 10. Option not available?

 

Windows 10 will not detect second monitor and just mirrors the display

Hi

My son has a gaming pc with a new NVidia video card and running Windows 10 I believe and we have just purchased an ultra wide gaming monitor for his birthday.

He wishes to keep his AOC existing monitor and have 2 monitors up and running and to extend the display and not mirror.

We have connected both via HDMI using I think the term is a HDMI splitter purchased from Amazon.

We have updated the Nvidia drivers as suggested and ensured all the cables are connected but when we go to Settings and additional display it does not detect the second monitor and the display is mirrored with no option to extend.

Searched on the web for half a day with no real suggestions. I use 2 monitors at work without issue so cannot explain to him why it will not detect the 2nd display.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
