Windows 10: My set time zone is greyed out and I have tried using PowerShell and command prompt but...

I don't have a photo of cmd prmpt. I am trying to change my time zone to Eastern Standard time but it is greyed out.

PowerShell instead of Commandline in Creators Update

Interestingly enough my personal laptop just got the update...and still has Command Prompt listed, not PowerShell...

Edit: Not that it matters...I use both regularly. *Toast :toast:

 

I can't set my time zone

You can try setting it via PowerShell, and see if it works permanently. To do so:

1. Open Start.

2. Search for PowerShell, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.

3. Type the following command to confirm the current time zone and press Enter:

Get-TimeZone

4. Type the following command and note the time zone that you want to use and press Enter:

Get-TimeZone -ListAvailable

5. Type the following command to set the new time zone and press Enter:

Set-TimeZone -Name "Line Islands Standard Time"

In the command, make sure to change "Line Islands Standard Time" with the correct time zone that you noted in step No. 4. Also, make sure to type the full name exactly as shown in PowerShell.

6. Type the following command to confirm the time zone was updated successfully and press Enter:

Get-TimeZone

After you complete the steps, Windows 10 will be updated with the new time zone that you indicated with the PowerShell command.

If you're having problem regarding your time zone, try the following:

-Disabling Set time zone automatically

1. Press Win + I (or click the Start menu and select Settings)

2. Click on Time & Language

3. Click on Date & time

4. Turn on the Set time zone automatically toggle switch.

-Setting time zone via PowerShell

1. Press Win + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin)

2. Type the following command to confirm the current time zone and press Enter:

Get-TimeZone

3. Type the following command and note the time zone that you want to use and press Enter:

Get-TimeZone -ListAvailable

4. Type the following command to set the new time zone and press Enter:

Set-TimeZone -Name "Eastern Standard Time (US & Canada)"

In the command, make sure to change "Eastern Standard Time (US & Canada)" with the correct time zone that you noted in step No. 4. Also, make sure to type the full name exactly as shown in PowerShell.

5. Type the following command to confirm the time zone was updated successfully and press Enter:

Get-TimeZone
