Windows 10: My sons Microsoft account is locked out even though he has never used it

I bought my son a new PC for Christmas. Last week, I set it up and registered a new Microsoft account for him. The account is one of my Microsoft family accounts which is managed by me. Apart from the day last week when I set up the PC, the account has not been used and the PC was switched off until Christmas morning as a surprise for my son. We switched it on this Christmas morning and he cannot use it because this new account which I created for him has been locked out "due to activity that violates the Microsoft Services Agreement". This is despite the account and PC not being used since last week when it was first registered.


When we try and enter his Outlook.com username and password, we get a message saying his account has been locked out and to click next and a verification code will be sent to my phone. However, no code is sent. I have tried 3 different telephone numbers now at this stage and it does not work. Now, the message I get is "user limit exceeded. Try again tomorrow".


My son is therefore able to play games or use his PC effectively which has ruined his Christmas Day. What can I do? The account was set up by me last week and has not been used until this morning. The PC was switched off and neither me nor my son attempted to log in until this morning, so there has been absolutely no activity on the account until this morning.

To correct the issue, we suggest you to perform the steps below:

• Press Windows log key + S.
• Type User Accounts and click on it from the result.
• Click on Manage Another Account.
• If your son's account appears there, you can remove it and retain your account.

  Have you receive any error, when trying to Login using Microsoft Account on your system?

  Have you changed the password of your Microsoft Account/
  

I would suggest you to try the below methods and check if it helps:

Method 1: Change the language on the lock Screen.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Click the language on the bottom of the lock screen.
  
• 
  Select the English language and click Ok.
  
• 
  Put your password now and check if you are able to login.
  

If the language option is not available on the bottom of o lock screen, then try method 2.



Method 2: Use On Screen Keyboard.

Follow the below steps;

• 
  Click on the Ease of access icon on the bottom of lock screen.
  
• 
  Select the On Screen Keyboard.
  
• 
  Type your password through On Screen Keyboard.

Locked Out of Admin Account

1. Are you using a Microsoft account or a local account?
   
2. Which version of Windows 10 you are using currently?
   
3. Is the other user account an admin account?
   

I suggest you to try using the on screen keyboard at the login page and check if you are able to login to the PC.

1. At the login screen click on the
   ease of access icon at the bottom right hand corner.
   
2. Click on the on screen keyboard to open it.
   
3. Type the password and try to login.
   

If you are using a Microsoft account, I suggest you to refer the article on

how to reset your Microsoft account password.



However, if you are using a local account, then I suggest you to refer the article on

reset your Windows 10 local account password.



Note: While performing these steps, there might be a risk of data loss. You may take a backup of the data before performing the steps.
