Windows 10: My sony headphones pair and connect with bluetooth, but play no sound

I can pair and connect my sony WH-1000XM4 headphones to my windows 11 device, but they stopped playing sound a few weeks ago. The headphones do not appear as an output device or in autoplay. I can not find the device in settings anywhere except in bluetooth settings where it says its connected. Initially I could find the device in output devices, but it would not let me press allow for allowing the device to play sound on my headphones, but now my headphones no longer appear in output devices. I have tried restarting my laptop and my headphones, repairing and reconnecting and nothing has solve

Background

I have a Sony (MDR-ZX770) bluetooth headphone that I have successfully been able to use on my Windows 10 laptop.

However

Now, after doing a shutdown/restart, it doesn't work anymore. Whenever I turn on my headphone, it's bluetooth connection status is listed as paired, but sound is played on the laptop's speakers.





I know my headphone is on because the power light is blinking blue.

I can (re)connect with my smartphone without issue.

 

Bluetooth headphones connected but no sound ("Connected: music")

My Bluetooth headphones (Sony WH-1000XM4) have been working fine with my laptop since I got them, but the audio randomly quit working while watching a YouTube video today. Now, whenever I connect my headphones they are displayed as "Connected: music" rather than "Connected" and play no sound at all. My volume level does not affect the lack of sound playback. The headphones work fine with any other device (e.g. my phone).

Steps I've taken to troubleshoot (all have had no effect):

Restart headphones

Restart laptop

Un-pair and re-pair headphones

Uninstall and reinstall device drivers

Update Bluetooth device drivers

Run audio troubleshooter

Restart Bluetooth Support Service

The headphones are set as my default playback device. Are there any other steps I can take to try and resolve the issue? Other similar threads I've found for this issue have been microphone issues, not sound playback. I appreciate any advice

 

Bluetooth headphones "say" connected/paired but no sound

I bought Sennheiser urbanite headphones specifically to use with my Sony VIAO (2013) and Windows10. When Bluetooth is active, and the headphones are paired there is no sound. I spent yesterday and today with the levels 1 & 2 tech support @ Windows/Microsoft
and they could not find a way to resolve the issue. The headphones pair and work perfectly on with my Windows phone and if I connect via USB or the cord that came with Sennheiser. Any Ideas on how to resolve this issue would be great. The Bluetooth "appears"
to be working and pairing fine...
