    Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue my sound force shut n wont reopen again :p

No sound after upgrading to Windows 10 and computer wont shut down

<> Don't know I can offer "serious" help but to recap on my "solved" post and there's a lot of "ifs" here:-
    • If you have an old Realtek sound card [mine was 5 years old] then a Win10 upgrade might leave you with very low sound output. I did a clean install and got this whereas when I first upgraded my existing Win7 there wasn't a problem.
    • I believe that now M/soft have issued an update to Win10 which allows you to be somewhat selective in what drivers you install.
    • So, if your problem is no/low sound and Device Manager tells you you have Realtek drivers installed - uninstall the sound card from Device Manager and delete any Realtek folders on your C:\.
    • If you're confident enough then delete any other instances of Realtek such as in C:\....users.... and a big "if", if you know what you're doing, delete Realtek via Regedit (if you don't know what Regedit is, then ignore that step).
    • Now here's where things might have changed with Win10 over the last few days, but if not -
    • Press the Win key and x together, then click on 'system', then 'system protection, then on 'Hardware'.

    • Now click on ' Device installation settings', you should see this BUT as I wrote - things might have changed !
    • my sound force shut n wont reopen again 34329d1485956150t-no-sound-after-upgrading-windows-10-computer-wont-shut-down-dis.jpg
    • Make sure that "Automatically get blah blah..." is not active and you could click on the button shown above.
    • You need to go back to Device Manager (Win key + x) and click on 'Action' then 'scan for hardware changes'. With luck, you should now see your sound card reinstalled.
    • Right-click on 'Speakers' and then driver details - you want to see that you're now running with the July 2015 Windows drivers like this:-

    • IF all has gone to plan *092 you are now using Windows and not Realtek to control your speaker layout. So now right-click on the speaker icon down at bottom right and then right-click on 'Playback devices'.
    • Now click on 'Configure' and play around with the settings to suit yourself.

I did all that and sound output is back to normal. However, I believe there's some new Realtek drivers just been released for Win10 but I'm not going to try them given the hours I've spent so far !

I've had a whole series of problems with legacy devices since the Win 10 clean install, the majority of which were around the usb host controller. To be honest, there's been many times when I wished I'd never "upgraded" to Win10 during the hours I devoted to resolving problems. Some satisfaction was derived from learning I'm not alone after I'd Googled the multitude of problems. Yet now everything is back to normal, fingers crossed, Win10 after the clean install has given me a faster, slicker desktop, tho' I could probably have achieved that with a clean install of Win7.

P.S. "Preview Post" suggests that an image above appears twice - apologies.

    Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.
