Windows 10: My speakers dont work and my microphone doesnt even show up on control panel, please help.

My speakers have disappeared from the sound tab in settings, but when I check control panel it says they are working fine. My microphone has also disappeared from my computer completely. My drivers are all up to date, I have all windows updates available installed and everything is connected to my computer. This has happened before and happens randomly, I dont remember how I fixed it last time. I have tried troubleshooting but it tells me my speakers arent set to default which I litreally cant do and I obviously cant troubleshoot my microphone if it doesnt even show up in control panel. Ive

Headphone, earphone and microphone are not in Sound Control Panel.

Windows 10 64 bit








Stereo mix and line & mic at front or rear panel don't work too.

I somehow managed to get my headphone to play the same thing as my speaker at the same time but that's as far as i got.

 

Lumia 930 microphone doesn't work on speaker

Hi, I have same issue on Lumia 930, have tried the various steps proposed by Microsoft, have also tried updating software to Windows 10 but to no avail. While a number of posts on this topic suggest it is likely to be a hardware bug, my symptoms seem to
indicate software:

• while using the phone normally (not on speaker) the microphones work perfectly. IE microphones 1 and 2 at the bottom of the phone appear to be working 100%
• while using the phone on speaker, microphones 1 and 2 (see Windows Phones for good photos of microphone locations) seem to be completely off
• while using phone on speaker, microphones 3 and 4 at the top of the phone seem to work reasonably as long as I'm close to the phone. Not as well as they should on a speakerphone though.
• microphone on headset works fine

This does look to be a very widespread issue ... any updates from Microsoft?

External microphone does not work

The issue could be because of the microphone being in a disabled state. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

• Open Control Panel and categorize to view by
  Small Icons.
  
• Click on Speech Recognition and navigate to
  Advanced Speech Options > Microphone > Advanced
  
• Check Real Conexant HD Audio, save the changes and exit
  Control Panel.
  
• Restart the machine to see if the microphone works.
