Windows 10: my Surface USB 3.0 Network Adapter is out of fuctioning.... including a captured window

I used to use this adapter on my Asus Notebook (it has no Wifi 5G built-in) and I am happy with this setup.

Today I found this adapter is not function on all USB ports on notebook.

Then, I connect it to my PC.

After several mins, it pops a dialog. So I dig into device manager and found "Surface Network Adapter" and its info as below captured windows.

Boot Surface Laptop to USB - no Volume button

Hello Jimmy,

This doesn't list the "Surface Laptop", but you might give it a try to see.

*Arrow Boot Microsoft Surface from a USB device

Surface Studio, Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Surface 3, or Surface Pro 3 with a configured boot order in UEFI

Step 1: Shut down your Surface.
Step 2: Insert the bootable USB drive into the USB port on your Surface.
Step 3: Press the power button to turn it on.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to boot from your USB drive.

Otherwise, you should be able to use OPTION ONE below to boot from the USB from advanced startup.

Support for the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter requires the installation of an update for the Surface System Aggregator Module prior to connecting the adapter to your Surface Pro or Surface Laptop device.

Surface Laptop:

The Surface System Aggregator Module update for Surface Laptop was previously made available on 15 May 2018. If your Surface Laptop is up-to-date with Windows Update or you have installed the 15 May 2018 update from the Microsoft Download Center, your Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter will work with your device out-of-the-box and no further action is required. If your device does not yet have this required update, please run Windows Update to update your device or install the latest drivers for Surface Laptop from the Microsoft Download Center.

The specific driver required for Surface Laptop devices to support the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is:

Surface System Aggregator v135.2139.257.0

Surface Pro (Model 1796):

The Surface System Aggregator Module update for Surface Pro (Model 1796) has not previously been made available and is now available via the Microsoft Download Center. To support the Surface Connect for USB-C Adapter on your Surface Pro device, you must download and install one of the following packages from the Surface Pro drivers and firmware page of the Microsoft Download Center:

The specific driver required for Surface Pro devices to support the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is:

Surface Pro 3 - no network in 10158

I upgraded my Surface Pro 3 to build 10158 today, and I have no network. Under device manager, they are installed properly. I have tried using the Microsoft USB adapter, and the device shows as installed, but under Network Connections, no adapter is visible - no wireless, USB, or dock adapter.

Any advice is appreciated!!
