Windows 10: My task bar is disappearing when I have a windowed full-screen game minimized

That has never happened before, and I don't know exactly when it started. It doesn't happen if the game is running in real full-screen mode. Whenever the desktop is visible, everything is fine pic 2, but as soon as another window appears in the foreground pic 1, the taskbar disappears. I suspect that Nvidia drivers/programs are causing this, because I reinstalled the tool we use to clip gameplay moments a few weeks ago, but I'm not sure. I have used it in the past without any similar issues. I've installed a newer nvidia driver with a newer nvidia program and for some hours the problem see

Most likely Tablet Mode, as dmholt57 suggests.

Another posibility is accidentally pressing F11 which switches a browser to full screen mode.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10. The task bar on the bottom of the screen suddenly disappeared. I have tried re-booting without success. Any suggestions on how to restore it?

 

Programs run minimized on task bar

First it was chrome then a week or so later Excel started doing it. The program open and they show on the task bar if you move the curser over them you can see that the program is open but you can not enlarge the small window the controls for enlarge and
minimize do not show only an x to close. I do not know of any software changes unless there was an update for something.

I tried the steps you outlined and they had no effect.

Thanks for the help, any other suggestions? I am lost without my excel!
