    My taskbar in W10 often goes partly transparent after idle time


    Hello, I have an HP laptop with Windows 10 home 22H2. Often when I leave the laptop without using for hours at home, when I reenter my PIN I see that a third or so of the taskbar has disapeared and shows the wallpaper. Usually parts in the middle and the area around the clock and notification. The items not showing are not clickable also. Blocking and reopening doesn't solve it, only restarting. Is there any fix? Thank you!

    Hi Dan,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I will surely assist you with this.

    I would suggest you to change the desktop themes and check if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

    If that doesn't help I would suggest you to end the explorer.exe and restart it and see if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

    Please follow the steps below to restart explorer.exe:

    stop and start Explorer.exe


      • Right click on the taskbar and select task manager.

      • In the process Right click on windows explorer and end the task

      • Restart the task by clicking on the file and select new task

      • Type Explorer.exe and press enter.
    And see if it helps.

    Transparency effects for taskbar only?

    Hi, this has been bothering me for a long time.

    I like my accent color dark grey:

    But this leads to the taskbar highlighting of the currently active window to be almost not visible.
    The same goes for the "quick action" pane, in which I cannot really see which fields are active or not.

    I found out that one way around this is to set "Transparency effects" to "on"
    and uncheck the "Show the accent color on the Start, tastkbar and action center" box,
    which results in this agreeable result:

    Unfortunately, I find the transparency effects on app windows (e.g. the Calculator) extremely irritating.
    So I am wondering, if there is a way to disable the transparency for windows but leave it enabled for the taskbar and qucik action pane?

    (currently on Version 19041.450)
