    My taskkill stopped working


    Taskkill worked perfectly, until i tried to update, which failed KB5021233, 0x80242016. After this taskkill stopped working, i tried to kill any process, but it didnt work

    Windows Update Service stuck at "Stopping". Taskkill doesn't work.

    I have this problem for like days now. The wuauserv (Windows Update Service) was stuck at stopping. Trying "taskkill /f /PID 9272" doesn't work. it just returns; there is no running instance of the task.

    The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

    My taskkill stopped working

    Windows Update Service stuck at "Stopping". Taskkill doesn't work.

    I've tried "net stop wuauserv" from step 2, but that didn't work, because the Windows Update service is in "Stopping" mode. Even the "Ren" command doesn't work because the file SoftwareDistribution is in use by the wuauserv service. Also, I have tried the
    media creation tool in the past, and it just ended up breaking my pc.

    I think the only way is to upgrade to windows 1909 update, since this issue started after upgrading to the 1903 update
