Windows 10: My Temp folder keeps clogging with files until I have no space left.

For the last two days my temp folder has been filling up with temporary files. I tried updating windows and some procedure about fixing the app store. I tried cleandisk, and I deleted the files. But as soon as the 70 GB of files were deleted a new folder was created and the files are created at a stupid pace. The folder name is tmp00000414 and is already at 26 GB after only a few minutes. The performance of my computer is deeply affected by this. What can I do?

The temp folder provides work space for programs. Yes they can be deleted. We suggest that you follow the steps provided by Sangeeta Sarkar on how to delete Temp files on this

link. You may also type in the search box Disk Cleanup and hit enter. It will evaluate your disk and give you a list of folders sizes that can be deleted.

Hardrive space keeps disapearing

I am not an advanced PC user. However, I don't think your computer has a virus. I think the old version of Windows has left some files on your computer. I don't know the commands for removing/cleaning the old windows version. I have seen it while searching.

If you search this site on how to remove old Windows version it will provide the answer/space you need.

If you have not already done so; you could try this command to safely remove
unnecessary temporary files(disk clean up does no thoroughly remove these files, ):

• 
  Removing temporary files:
  

• 
  Right click on windows icon and select Run.
  
• 
  Type in: %temp% in search window to find temp file folder
  
• 
  Select temp file folder titled: Temp folder, Windows/Temp.
  
• 
  Select all, then press shift and delete to permanently delete temp files.
  

To save space on C:drive, you can assign the temp file folder to another drive

I suggest you to follow these methods below and check, if it works:

Method 1:

• Press Windows key + R key together, to open RUN command Window.
• Type "temp" in the RUN Command Window, to open temp folder and then delete the files and folders inside the temp folder.

If the issue persists, follow method 2.

Method 2:

• Press Windows key + R key together, to open RUN command Window.
• Type "%temp%" in the RUN Command Window, to open temp folder and then delete the files and folders inside the temp folder.
  

If the issue persists, follow method 3.

Method 3:

I suggest you to boot the computer to Safe Mode, then perform disk cleanup on Windows 10 and check, if it works.
