Windows 10: My unzipped file is empty after extract all Using explorer to unzip files.

The progress bar shows it is unzipping but the target folder is always empty. I have used windows file explorer before successfully.

OPEN WITH is set to Windows File Explorer.

I can't figure out what is happening. Have run windows diagnostics SFC scanand DISM scan.

What are other options are there to get file explorer to unzip?

I see multiple questions about unzipping files in windows 10 with the same exact response about opening the folder via 'windows icon +E' which I can use to open a folder but I get no option for unzipping other than I need to download Winzip. Is this functionality
not included in windows 10 as it has been previously? Please don't just post the same copy and paste response that didn't work for quite a few people based on comments from your site.
The steps below DO NOT WORK for windows 10. I've been using previous versions of windows for years and while this used to work it doesn't in your new version.

• Locate the zipped folder that you want to unzip (extract) files or folders from.
• Do one of the following:
  • To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location.
  • To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

There are few ways to unzip a file, like using a third party software, or using File Explorer. For us to isolate the issue, we would like to know if you have encountered any error messages. Also, kindly provide a screenshot of the greyed out options.

In the meantime, we suggest that you open the compressed folder. At the top, click on
Extract tab. Select Extract all button. Select destination of the files that you want to extract.

Unable to unzip pictures to windows photo viewer

you might face such issues if the file is zipped.

I suggest you to unzip the file and check.

To do so follow the steps below.

Open File Explorer and find the zipped folder.

• To unzip the entire folder, right-click (or press and hold) it, select
  Extract All, then follow the instructions.
• To unzip a single file or folder, double-click the zipped folder to open it. Then, drag or copy the item from the zipped folder to a new location.
