My User Starts with just a Command Prompt

My issue originally started with not being able to open cmd.exe on my Windows 10 Pro install. I couldn't open the command prompt at all. I found a fix somewhere online that involved opening settings for it and clearing out a string of options. That worked perfectly and I could open and use the command prompt again. The problem after clearing all of that information out is that when I log in to my user, it starts off with a cmd.exe window with a completely black background and no taskbar. If I type explorer.exe into the prompt and press enter, everything comes up like normal. I don't remember where those options were that I cleared out and I can't find the website with the information again to try to backtrack. When I create a new user, it logs in fine. I am hoping to find the setting and fix it, rather than create a new user and try to migrate everything over. The settings were a string of text in a box, but I don't remember if it was in the registry or some sort of shortcut settings somewhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    :)

Would I just follow the same steps within safe mode after hooking up to the other system?

command prompt will not open in safe mode with command prompt

I am repairing a laptop for a friend and I need to access windows in safe mode and the owner has forgotten the password to the main user. I tried logging on with the administrator profile in safe mode but it is not showing up so I was going to use command prompt in safe mode with command prompt but command prompt will not open when I boot that option. Does anyone have any hints for me to figure this out?

My User Starts with just a Command Prompt

command prompt will not open in safe mode with command prompt

Command prompt is only accessible from the Administrative Profile, this is to prevent general users from accessing and bypassing controls.
One method is to remove the drive and connect it to another system.
