Windows 10: My WD passport device is not getting recognized after upgrading the OS to Windows 11

My WD passport device is not getting recognized after upgrading the OS to Windows 11. I verified in other laptops with windows 11 and is not recognized anywhere. I also have installed the recommended drivers but still it is not recognized.Also My external hard drive has lot of data. If I assign a drive letter through disk management do I lose the data?

I have the same drive with no issues. There is a WD SES Driver that should get installed when this device is hooked up from Windows 10, would be listed below Universal Serial Bus Controllers in Device Manager and only visible when hooked up unless you select under View in the Menu and check "Show Hidden Devices". Also shown as WD My Passport in Disk Drives in the Device Manager. Show in Devices and Printers and on taskbar notification area as Safely Remove?

Seems like you said you deleted or uninstalled all USB Hub, USB Mass Storage and USB SuperSpeed Hubs from Device Manager and rebooted to reinstall and this did not work.

Since your upgrade have you updated Chipset drivers for your system and any other important system driver ? Do you see under Universal Serial Bus Controllers - USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller.

 

WD passport external HD not recognized on windows 10

I got Windows 10 to recognize my WD My Passport Ultra 2tb. Steps: 1. download the WD SES Driver (WD SES Driver Download)
and WD Firmware Updater (WD Product Update). 2. Reset the computer. 3. Press the Windows Key and look for Administrative Tools option and select the Disk Administrator. 4. The application will display
the disk and most likely the settings will be disabled (right click), you must remove that unit from this same box of options. 5. Then right click again will enable the options to assign a letter to name the detected disk, assign for example Z. 6. Finally
you will see that your computer recognize your WD Passport Ultra. I hope this is useful, it worked for me.

i have hp pavilion dv5 notebook pc, & it d foes not recognize my

WD passport, it shows the driver, & it says that it's working ok, go to my computer & it shows

disk F, disk G disk C, but it does not shoe a letter for my WD passport,
