Windows 10: My whole windows has issues. (USB ports disconnecting, Virus Protection FORCED off, Bugs...

Hey Guys, so last month I reset my PC for likely the 4th time this year due to issues like these, and I thought they were gone, I just can't figure out what's going on.

First, I have a 5900x + 3080 build, with 16gb 3600mhz RAM.

However, there's a ton of regular issues I encounter, so I'm just going to list them off and hope you guys may have some fixes!

I'm a streamer & content creator who does this daily, which is why it's important i fix these:

• USB ports overwhelmed / Disconnecting? Regularly I'll hear the unplug and re-plug sound windows makes when you insert new usb media or so, however this is just when im gaming or chilling randomly?
• Crackle / Stuttery Audio, especially when gaming in games like Fortnite, Minecraft, Warzone, I'll regularly hear little crackles or stutters when running around, especially when I tab out too, this has also caused a few freezes before and seems like the pc struggles to do this?
• Virus Protection is OFF and i can't turn it bback on, This may be because of a recent trojan I had which turned out to be mining bitcoin, however I removed it but now can't turn on my VIRUS protection, I've tried everything on the web and next thing should just be a reset wipe of my pc?
• Camera Freezes, as I use my a6000 camera into a Camlink 4K USB every day, I believe this is involved with the USB freezes in the ports too, but my camera likely freezes picture multiple times each stream or recording i do...
• Besides all this, despite my storage being fine and havign the specs of a solid 2021 PC, my pc at times can feel really laggy and slow?
• Sometimes when I load up my PC on a morning, the whole windows side of things takes forver to load, like my taskbar or icons on desktop, If I press it kind of says "not responding" often requiring a restart to fix?

Issue with USB ports turning off

Hi Mattx1,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

1. Does the issue occur with all the USB devices plugged in to the PC?
   
2. Does the issue occur when you plug in the USB device to any of the UISB port on the PC?
   
3. Did you make any changes to the PC prior to this issue?
   

Let us try these steps one by one to check if that makes any difference.

Step 1: Suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and check if that helps.

1. From the Settings screen, choose Update & Security.
   
2. Select Troubleshoot. Look for Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and run it.
   
3. Follow the on-screen direction to complete the process and if required please apply the fix it.
   
4. Once it is done, please reboot the computer and check the status.
   

Step 2: Suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers on the PC to check if that helps.

1. Press ‘Windows + R’ keys, type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run window and press Enter.
   
2. In Device Manager, expand "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
   
3. Right click a device under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and click uninstall.
   
4. Perform same step for other devices. When completed, restart the computer.
   

All USB controllers will reinstall automatically.

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
