Windows 10 Unplug Power and Wi-Fi Stops

I updated my aunt's HP Pavilion dv6 laptop from windows 7 to 10 a couple weeks ago, and she started having the problem that when she unplugs the charger it cannot connect to the Wi-Fi. Over the phone, the only way we could find to fix it was to restart the
computer with the charger in, and then the internet would continue working.

I tested it out in person and it does not stop working immediately when unplugged. To jump start this, I turned on and off airplane mode, and the wireless would not connect. When I go to Settings>>Network & Internet>>Wi-Fi, the switch is turned off, but
when I click it to turn the Wi-Fi back on, it shows a loading icon and shuts back off within a second. The physical button for Wi-Fi corresponds to Airplane mode, and is on when I've tried connecting the Wi-Fi.

Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

I have tried all the trouble shooters and have tried updating the network driver, as suggested by this page:

Wifi won't turn on (Windows 10)

Pawan Dhondiyal's second suggested method was formatted differently than my computer and I cannot find
a proper way to remove the network, otherwise I would have tried that. If someone knows a safe way to attempt that and has a better explanation than in the page I mentioned, that would also be great.

  4. MY WI-FI DOSEN'T WORK WHEN I UNPLUG MY LAPTOP POWER

    Trouble Changing Wi-Fi Password

I've been following the following steps to change my Wi-Fi password for some time:

    1. Launch Control Panel.
    2. Click "Network and Internet."
    3. Click "Network and Sharing Center."
    4. Click "Wi-Fi...."
    5. Click "Wireless Properties."
    6. Click the Security tab.
    7. Check "Show characters."
    8. Enter the password in "Network security key."
Those steps have been working just fine, but today I discovered a new wrinkle. If I change the password inside the router first, "Wi-Fi..." doesn't appear in step 4. This isn't much of a problem at home, because I can just change the password in Control Panel before I change it inside the router, but it would be a problem at a public hotspot, or something of that nature. I also tested Brink's instructions in "How to Connect To a Wireless Network in Windows 10," but they don't work for me either. How can I fix this?
