Separate 2 computers from 1 Microsoft account

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

As you want to remove the Microsoft account from one of the two computers, I suggest to convert the Microsoft account to a local account on one of the computers. This will separate two computers from the same Microsoft account.

    Please refer this article
Switch your Windows 10 device to a local account
    .

However, if you don’t want to convert the user account to a local account, then you need to use a different Microsoft email ID to separate two computers.

To use a different Microsoft email account on one of the computer, you first need to convert the current account to a local account by following the same steps provided in the article above, then click on
Sign-in with Microsoft account instead option from settings and enter the different Microsoft credentials that you wish to use.

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks,

My wife and I have separate Microsoft accounts but we only have one computer. How do I access both accounts on the same computer?

Hello! My name is Cristiano. I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you.

To access both Microsoft accounts on the same computer, you can follow these steps:

    1. Log out of the current Microsoft account on the computer: If you or your wife is currently logged into a Microsoft account on the computer, log out of that account. You can do this by clicking on the Start menu, clicking on your account icon, and then selecting "Sign out."

    2. Once you have logged out of the current account, click on the Start menu and click on the "Settings" icon (gear icon). From there, click on the "Accounts" option, and then select "Family & other people" from the left-hand side menu. Under "Other people," click on "Add someone else to this PC."

    3. Enter your wife's Microsoft account email address and password, and then click on the "Next" button. If your wife does not have a Microsoft account, she can create one for free on the Microsoft website.

    4. After entering the account credentials, you will be asked to choose the account type. You can either select "Standard User" or "Administrator." It is recommended that you set up a standard user account to ensure that both accounts remain separate and secure. After selecting the account type, click on the "Finish" button.

    5. Once you have added your wife's account to the computer, you can switch between accounts by clicking on the Start menu and clicking on the account icon in the top-right corner. From there, you can select the account you want to switch to.

    6. Finally, you can personalize each account by adding a profile picture, changing the desktop background, and customizing the settings. Each account will have its own unique settings and preferences.

    I hope this helps!
