Windows 10: My wifi works but my Ethernet Cable wont connect to my PC

I recently got an Ethernet cable for my pc as my router is nearby but nothing happens after plugging it into my PC, the wifi adapters work fine but it dosent recognize the Ethernet cable and if its of any relevance there is a steady amber light by the Ethernet port on the back of my PC. I tried plugging it into my laptop to see if the problem was with the cable or the computer and it works fine on my laptop but not my PC. I tried doing a network reset from my Network and Internet settings and that didnt change anything, but I did notice when I was on the Network and Internet Settings that there was no "Ethernet" tab there as there normally is.

Im at a loss here and would appreciate any help to getting my Ethernet connection to work.

I don't know what I mean. YES ON WIF i can connect to the internet, but you cannot connect to anthing plugged into the same WIFI ROUTER with CAT5 Cable ethernet. My MacBook Pro has WIFI and ehternet, ethernet wont work, but wifi will. My Dell does not have wifi, and I cannot connect to the network or internet at all. As I mentioned, I changed the WIFI Router about a week ago, problem solved, for 3-4 days, now ethernet to the new router does not work again.

 

Remote Desktop connection working with WiFi but not working with Ethernet cable?

My question is about remote desktop connection.

Earlier I was using remote desktop between two windows 7 machines via WiFi.

With passing of time I connect with via ethernet cable to WiFi router for both the machines.

Then I upgraded the server pc to windows 10.

And the reciver pc doesn't. After this the WiFi connection was working well, even the ethernet between windows 10 pc and WiFi router was working well.

But the connection between WiFi router and windows 7pc wasn't via ethernet.

Now I want to connect windows 7pc with WiFi router with Ethernet cable.

Please help...

 

Wifi not connecting without Ethernet cable


Basically what happened before: After updating to Windows 10, my computer was not showing any network options. (The icon says "Not connected - No connections are available) Going into Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network Connections, it then says "Local Area Connection Network cable unplugged". I ran diagnostics and it said to plug in the ethernet cable to the network adaptor. So my wifi connection will not work with my laptop unless directly connected to by the ethernet cable. Wifi works fine with phones, ipods/ipads, and another laptop that was also updated to windows 10/a desktop still using windows 8.
